Volkswagen Ignition Coil
The ignition system is one of the most important systems in your vehicle. The ignition system has to work in perfect concert with the rest of the engine. The ignition system has a lot of components that work altogether to do its function. Some of these include the spark plug and spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor and body, and the ignition module and coil.

The ignition coil is a high-voltage transformer made up of two coils of wire. The two coils are the primary coil and the secondary coil which is wrapped around the primary coil. The current flows from the battery through the primary winding of the coil but it can be interrupted by the breaker points. The secondary coil though has the more number of turns of wire than the primary. The key to the operation of the coil is what happens when the circuit is broken or interrupted by the breaker points and the magnetic field of the primary coils collapses. The secondary coil is enveloped by a powerful surge of the magnetic field. This field brings about a very high-voltage current mainly because of the more number of coils in the secondary winding. This high voltage is then fed by the secondary coil to the distributor thru an insulated high-voltage wire, then to the spark plug where it jumps the plug gap and fires the plugs. This is necessary for the ignition of the fuel-air mixture in the combustion.
Recognizing the ignition coils problems is important for its proper maintenance. Coil problems include shorts or opens in the internal wiring and cracks around the high voltage terminal. For your replacement of a VW ignition coil, order from our online store now.
