Volkswagen Strut Bar
A strut bar, also known as strut brace is mostly aftermarket car suspension accessory used in conjunction with MacPherson struts on unibody chassis to give extra strength between the strut lowers. It is designed to tie the two opposing strut towers as a single solid unit. This is done to diminish the strut tower flex especially during hard cornering.

With a MacPherson strut suspension system the spring and shock absorber are combined in one suspension unit. This causes the entire vertical suspension load to be transmitted to the top of the vehicle's strut tower. This is the reason why there is inherent flexing within the strut towers when the car is taking a turn. Thus, the strut bar is designed to minimize the strut flexing by tying the two parallel strut towers together. This distributes the pressure applied to one strut tower when taking a turn on both towers instead of just one resulting to improved chassis rigidity. Thus the condition in which the front tires do not follow the trajectory the driver is trying to impose while taking the corner is greatly reduced. Additionally, with the strut bar, the tire wear is improved and metal fatigue is greatly reduced in the strut tower area. It just goes to show that adding a brace or a bar between these two strut towers is a great way to consolidate and strengthen you vehicles suspension.
